    Homemade pto?

Here is our version of a home made manure spreader built out of a Ford Ranger rear axle, some scrap iron, and some splined couplings from Agri Supply. If and when we sell the 7 acre farm in Maryland, where our 8N is cutting some fields, we will transport the 8N to North Carolina, and have a...

    Homemade pto?

My 28 year old friend and I (79 years old) got a 4.11 gear ratio Ford Ranger rear axle welded to an old trailer tongue, and then mounted an extra set of Ferris zero turn wheels and tires. The overall gear ratio worked pretty well as the PRO spins pretty fast at ground speed. I had not...

    Homemade pto?

My distances are 17 miles between towns for the Ford 6610, and 400 miles for the Ford 8N. I shoved the 6610 front wheels together to clear my trailer's inner fenders, but am stymied about getting the wheel wheels far enough on the trailer to avoid rear weight bias of the trailer. I have to...

    Homemade pto?

I have a 6610 Ford, an 8N, a 543B Bobcat (no PTO), a 743B Bobcat (no PTO, but does have a rear facing male spline off engine pulley), a 33.5 HP Ferris diesel ( 2000 pound mower) with a 2" tow ball, and a nearly new "PTO driven, pull along manure spreader." Problem is transporting the real...

T340; who handles the parts nowadays?

Hello there. I plan on picking up a T340 later this fall. I have always wanted one to use around the farm for small stuff. It has the Drott 4in1 l loader, and a reverser. I am having trouble finding out who handles parts for it. I read that after the IH breakup, Drott bought the industrial...

    Need help on 740

As always, check the electrics before chasing the fuel. If you have a hand held ammeter, put it in line with the distributor or coil and see if the points are carrying at least two amps. If you have an ohmmeter, compare your coil with a known good coil (some Chinese replacements have...

Any Knowledge of Ford 671 Select-o-shift

I have a gang of parts that I need a Q & A about. The first Q is what is the second cable out of the transmission and what it does? What I call the first cable hooks to the dash mounted shifter which I do have. The second cable is an orphan and I have nothing to hook it to. There is a hole...

O/T.. Blue devil head gasket sealer

Keep in mind, these chemical "head gasket sealers" usually have grit in them, to try to plug up the leaky holes. The Moroso ceramic sealers, we sold years ago, pretty much destroyed the water pump, and then you were sidelined again.

Bolt pattern on back of 601 trans

I could spring for a trans and rear combo. Would the folks that have them e-mail me with price and shipping to NC? I like using Estes Truck Terminal, highway 15-501 South, Aberdeen, NC, 910-944-1514

Bolt pattern on back of 601 trans

Have a whole bunch of parts that could be built into a tractor if I could get the trans to work against the rear axle, or if I could find a 6XX-7XX trans and matching rear axle for sale.

Bolt pattern on back of 601 trans

Any body out there have both a 601 - 641 Ford tractor trans AND an 8N trans? I need the rear bolt pattern dimensions of a 601 to see what it would take to make an adapter plate so that I can bolt it to an 8N rear axle.

    Swapping a 172" engine into 8N

I have a nearly new condition, OHV Ford 172" Industrial engine that I want to install into my 51 8N, I bought a 1954 Ford tractor engine plate thinking it might work but, while similar, no go. I think the 172 was factory in the Ford 601 series machines?? Anyone know of a easy way to install...

9N 12 Volt conversion resistor question

I bought two coils from a tractor dealer, and one coil from Charlotte, NC (all in one week) before I got one that would work with out overheating the points (by supplying too much amperage). Problem was the offshore repo coils just didn't have enough wire in them compared to the quality coil...

9N 12 Volt conversion resistor question

The resistor/s is used to limit the current (amps) across the points. Points can only handle up to about 4 amps, and at the max of 4 amps, the points do not last real long. The resistor/s should be wired so that the starter circuit bypasses the resistor and supplies full battery voltage when...
