Ford 7000 w/Load Monitor - Top Cover Tools and Rigging

Thanks Bern. I agree about Load Monitor, I don't use it either. However, rigging of the linkages in the top cover are interlinked with the strut that goes to the LM fork, so correct settings can't be achieved unless the strut position is fixed relative to the cover - hence the need for the...

Ford 7000 w/Load Monitor - Top Cover Tools and Rigging

Have overhauled the top cover, new cross shaft, rebuilt the lift cylinder, now at rig stage to check / adjust all the linkages. Most have not been disturbed, but I want to be sure everything is good when I put the cover back on. The book shows 3 tools needed, I have Googled, phoned several NH...

    MF550 dirty tank sample

Thanks for that RJ - makes total sense. Any idea if the spike rear beater (corn) versus the vane rear beater makes any real difference i.e. is it really necessary to convert back from spike to vane for small grains ?

    MF550 dirty tank sample

Really helpful Andy, thanks for that. Time to contact the salvage yard. Is the belt the same with the high speed pulley ? Did you have to make any changes to the sieve with the higher blower speed ?

    MF550 dirty tank sample

Thanks RG. For sieves, picking up what you said earlier, for these small grains, do you have the stock adjustable sieves, or round hole type ? The other big question, this machine was used for corn. If has the spike rotor (instead of vanes) on the rear beater. Do you think that might be...

    MF550 dirty tank sample

Thanks for all the responses guys. I had increased fan speed yesterday to max, and today the belt came off. Its clearly worn, so your right about worn / slipping. Did you have trouble with the straw wrapping itself around the intake auger ? The straw is a bit dead and damp, would that be it...

    MF550 dirty tank sample

This 550 was set up for corn (spike rear drum). I am cutting very ripe rye. I adjusted the concave & drum best I could (still too open) and adjusted the screens per the book, with blower on highest setting. The tank sample has lots of threshed heads and small amount of straw. Are the screens...

    MF500 COncave Adjustment

Thanks Flying B Pretty sure there are no eye bolts for the front of the concave as you describe on the 750, like there are in back but I'm heading out now to look. Seems like removal of both wheels (certainly the left) and left mudguard will be in order. Fingers crossed.

    MF500 COncave Adjustment

Thanks RG Rasps are fairly fresh. Concave looks in good order too. Your point about not getting clearances but threshing fine is comforting. The rear hangars are almost full up in the slot. There is no way I will get 3mm at the rear rasp to concave. What are you cutting (small grains for...

    MF500 COncave Adjustment

New to MF combines, just recieved a 550 - good overall condition, with 13ft grain head, wide concave spacing. Handbook says concave at front should be 8mm when adjusting lever is at notch setting 5, 1.5mm when at notch setting 1 and 32 mm when at notch setting 11 (full open). I tried to measure...

Ford 2910 Power Steering Control Valve Teflon Seals

My 2910 has the later type double drop arm power assisted steering. The manual doesn't reference a tool for installing replacement teflon seals on the control valve without damage. The 2600/3600 manual does (see above), but for single drop arm integral type, using expander FT.3144 and post...

Ford 2910 Power Steering Control Valve Teflon Seals

Hello Bern, Thanks for your reply. I see FT.3144 as the seal expander and FT.3144-1 as the post install re aizing tool in the 2600/3600 integral single drop arm steering unit. The control valve sleeve is much smaller in 2910/3910, and there is no reference in the 2910/3910 manual to special...

Ford 2910 Power Steering Control Valve Teflon Seals

Thanks Rick. Did you seperate the nut & worm from the cylinder for less to clear so the teflon didn't have to be stretched too much ? By the time I got the seal in the groove, there was no way to compress it back, it was way oversized, and that was just the first seal. Really struggling to think...
