cutter/conditioner &thick hay "balling up"
Stating brand & model of your hay cutter could get you more correct answers. Ditto on slowing ground speed. Have considered due to thickness of hay to cut less than a full cut? Relocating reel back closer to crimper rollers might help feeding of hay through the rollers. If you haven't already...- Tx Jim

IMHO comparing JD 24 volt electrical system & 240 AC electrical system just adds confusion to the average tractor repair person that's not a very knowledgeable AC electrician.- Tx Jim

1020 Hydraulics
One can check pressure on front hyd pump. Due to your tractors serial # one can not check pressure on power steering supply line!!! L/D control lever should remain in "D" for all tasks except when utilizing ground engaging implements such as 3-pt plows. That lever controls auto depth sensing...- Tx Jim

I agree if built for sales in N America this 1020 has open-center power steering. IMHO the first thing you need to do is check hyd stand-by pressure. One can purchase a hyd gauge for under $20. If hyd pressure is below 1700 psi pressure control valve inside red box in photo below bolted to RH...- Tx Jim

Engine needs to be operating to attain 2250 psi pressure. What type hyd diagnostic procedures were performed to determiner that front hyd pump was faulty & required replacement? How long since hyd filter was changed & hyd oil suction screen checked/cleaned? Is your 1020 serial # below or above...- Tx Jim

Feeding
I've been feeding my cows hay for about a month. It's going to require a lot of bales for my cows until the grass greens up next Spring. I'm glad my calves have sold as high as they have & hay is reasonable to purchase.- Tx Jim

Moving a 4 bottom Plow with no Hydraulics on my Tractor
IF one doesn't want to install a ratchet jack one could loosen butt end of cylinder hose, raise rear of plow with some lifting device, remove pin on butt end of of cylinder then extend cylinder rod, rotate cylinder butt end up then fill cylinder barrel with oil & plug orifice on cylinder then...- Tx Jim

I agree 240 volt AC electrical system resembles 24 volt DC electrical system but the center tap/neutral on 240 volt AC system isn't both + & - polarity like the 24 volt accessory circuits- Tx Jim

John Deere 115 Disc
Yes those JD disk have a double offset configuration. I owned a model 210 & a similar but much heavier model 310. IMHO the JD 100 & 200 series are not good for primary tillage only secondary tillage. I used my JD 310 on many 100's of acres to prepare soil to plant small grains & sprigging...- Tx Jim
