    Thanks for the help. Took it apart and found what looked like a bad connection. Cleaned it up and it works great now.

    Can anyone tell me if there is a replacement for this tachometer off of a MF35 diesel deluxe? Also i believe this is a ccw tachometer but I'm not sure.

    I'm in the same boat as y'all that this should just work with the ground and positive being switched.     I agree but that's not what I'm seeing. I did try taking the starter off and cleaned the copper post and then bench test it but again nothing happens when it's in a negative ground setup.
