    Update on the parts tractor

    Sometimes you get lucky. I got 2 8Ns this weekend for parts that were far more solid than the ones I was going to fix,and both 12 volt, side distibutor, non leaky tractors. I'm almost betting that one or both will run and run well with the usual carb clean/ignition tune up.

    Update on 3 cylinder 8N

    I'd agree with under $500 because of the busted block. 250-400 in my area is a good parts tractor price. I buy parts tractors and build 1 from 2 or 3+ a few hundred and if I don't count any of my time I'll break even or make a few hundred. Now and then I get lucky and find one that fires up...

    Tractor paint

    Tractor Supply here now sells Majic brand paint. Before that they sold Valspar,which is made by DuPont. It was good paint. I used the new stuff on the last one and used the acrylic hardener with it, along with acetone for thinner. It turned out great,but no idea if it will last. If yours looks...

    2N electronic ignition conversion hard start

    Whether an N, or lawnmower, motorcycle,etc. the fact that it fires on the last few spins AFTER you let off the starter button says a lack of battery power. Points ignition will even do this at a certain point of low voltage. It's taking so much to run the starter, that there's not enough left...

    I use gloss black, and the too light Ford grey mixed to match what Krylon sells as smoke grey for 8Ns.If you need to touch up or paint a small part later,use smoke grey. For the red,I've seen many colors on the 8Ns,but to match the original,it's a sure thing if you pull the little round...

    I was having this problem, or very similar. This was even after I removed the follower pin turned it around reinserted it.
