Wow! That is great. I remember passing tractor safety more than a few years ago, my reward was getting my job on the farm back! And I was happy for less than a dollar an hour! Wayne

    JD 7210 overheating

get an IR thermometer and measure the temperature of the inlet and outlet house of the radiator and the engine. Home Cheapo sells them, and they are on line a dime a dozen. Wayne

    Airplane Fuel?

Buickanddeere had it right... There is no ethanol in the avation gas, so the gumming problems we all have using regular gas will go away. I'm buying it now for my small engines that use gasoline and putting it in them as the last fill up of the year. I still add marine grade stabil. Alcohol...

    48 B clutch hanging

Well, I had it apart today and seemed to fix it. This should have been an easy job, but the two bolt holes in the clutch drive disc were stripped, so I had to drill/heli-coil them to take the drive disc off. Actually, everything looked pretty good inside, includng the clutch dogs, operating...

    48 B clutch hanging

OK, before I get yelled at, I do have the service and parts manual, and I just looked at how to get at the bearing. It looks pretty simple, and I can make up a puller if needed. What about this bushing that is also on the pulley on the side close to the housing? Does that hang up and go bad...

    48 B clutch hanging

Everyone: OK, thanks for the replies. Sounds like I better look at the bearing in the pulley. Yes, I always start it in neutral, and that is how I realized I had a problem. Can anyone give me any hints on how much this is? Pull the pulley cover, remove the plates, is it obvious where the...

    48 B clutch hanging

I have a 48 B that I've had now since '04 and it has been a great machine with no issues. The last two time I went to use it, the clutch would not "release" when in neutral, the belt pulley kept spinning? I don't see the problem at all when it is in gear though, and it does not seem to drag when...

    '88 F350 with 7.3 non turbo diesel...

So I still have my 88 F-250 with 7.3 IDI non-turbo on the road. It runs great. One possible problem that is hard to detect is damage from cylinder cavitation caused by failure to maintain the cooling system properly. Not the fault of the owners, Ford sent out warnings to people in the late 90's...

Shifter Problem on JD '52 A

I have a 48 B and assume the the transmissions work the same... So mine did the same thing... I pulled the top plate off the trans and tightend the square head bolt that holds the shifter fork in place. Don't ask me what that is called, but the problem was obvious when I took a look. Wayne

    OT-internet signal question

yes, especially if you do not have "encryption" turned on, such as WEP or WAP. On my Linksys you can log into the router (you need the username and password), go to the "status" section, click local network and then click DHCP table and look aat the users. Email me if you need more...

    1945 (hand start) Model A Serial #554698

I replaced my lining and did not want the clip on one since it looked wrong. My dealer (Gardiner in Waldorf MD) picked up the right part and it came with the rivets. I bought the rivet tool from somebody on two cylinder magazine. Mr. Gardiner is a collector himself, and probably spent more time...

3020 Diesel Running hot I am not sure???????

Some of the guess's people have are crazy. Without measuring the actual temp, nobody has a clue what is going on. Get at least an IR probe. My "GUESS" is that you are fine with no problem. (well, it ain't boining over is it!) but without numbers to back you up we're all just typing for the fun...

    Cold weather diesel question

My 23 year old Ford (actually IH-7.3) has a heater in the fuel pump to avoid that. Below freezing it turns on. Also, if water is in the bottom of the tanks, the way the fuel pick up works it will start sucking fuel up part way up the pick up tube. Ask me why I know all this... Wayne
