    Silo for Saturday

My paternal grandfather had a silo exactly like that, not as large. About 15 ft dia. and 30 ft. tall and no roof. Haven't been back there for many years, but probably long gone. Farm was in Wright county along the North Fork of the Crow River, Gary.

Spring work started early again this year

Good to hear from you again. Thought it might be early out there with the hot weather in the southwest. When the ground is right, ya gotta go!! Gary from snowy Minnesota.

    The Partridge

Good story UD, but yes those little rascals can scare the bejeebers out of you when they jump up close to you. We have hunted grouse and deer in the Two Harbors Mn. area for over 60 years and seen lots of them, more so when deer hunting. Was always told that when there is a deeper snow cover...

    Silo for Saturday

Petertay--i worked for a fellow that had a silo like that. Not nearly as high as the barn but had a 6 foot below ground level pit, what a bummer to pitch silage out over your head. GRRR, Gary.

    I made it to retirement

Congratulations,Jon!! Like so many others have said, after a while you will wonder how you ever got all of your farm work done. Darn job kept getting in the way. I had a hard time the first year of retirement and still get up at 4:30 in the am just because that's what i did for over 40 years...

Finally got the stuff in the new shed

It is nice to have equipment under cover. I went 1 winter with minimal shed room and the next summer built my shop/storage shed that is 90% full, more so for winter as i have 6 wagon loads of wood stashed in there, Gary.

    What's this belt go to?

Dad had a 203 IHC and when he added a scour-clean it had a belt like that. A replacement belt had to be special ordered, Gary.

    Gas tank puzzle

Jon, i had the same problem years ago and if i remember right if i left the tank valve open it worked ok---never bothered in the winter. I don't use the tank anymore as not using much gas and bulk delivery will not deliver less than 150 gallons--BUMMER, Gary.

    What percent field loss

If he considered that field harvested, one would wonder how the combine was set up?? Would have to walk the field to figure out an accurate field loss, but looks really high. Those pictures would make any farmer sick, Gary.

    Silo for Saturday

    Strange hydraulic problem

Barnyard, explain how when the loader is lifted and let back down it would refill the top part of the cylinder when those hoses end at the top of the filler pipe?????? Gary.
