    TO20 will not start - any suggestions?

    Sounds like the issue I had with my coil. Bought two new coils and they were both bad. Went with a Pertronix and have not had any more issues.

    Water in hyd/transmission oil

    I replaced my fluid after the tractor set for 20+ years. There was more water than fluid. While draining, I noticed something at the drain hole. Turns out it was 1/2 of a dipstick. And speaking of dipsticks, the bell and seal around the dipstick was missing allowing water to run into it.

    Just make sure it is indeed a vented cap. Seems as though there are quite a few marked vented are not vented.

    I couldn't help but notice that just the change in temperature with cause a vacuum in my tank and I have a brand new, as per the package, vented cap.

    I was going to try some RTV but then thought that soldering would add a little extra strength to the bracket. If I was not able to find a screw easily, I was going to braze the holes over and then braze the bracket. I used a #14x3/4 stainless sheet metal screw, a perfect fit. It is a little...

    I picked up some stainless sheet metal screws. It may be that this was fixed before with some regular screws and they rotted away. Is the bracket supposed to be soldered to prevent leaking?

    Can anyone tell me what attaches the top radiator support to the radiator? It started to leak around it and when I went to do some brazing, the screw heads, at least that is what they looked like, fell off and the bracket was being held on by solder. Now all I have is two holes.

    What would cause points to keep crapping up so as to stop being able to function? I thought it was my coil that kept overheating and stop working, causing the tractor to shut down. Turns out the points are the culprit. I run some 320 grit paper between them and I have spark again.

    I was talking to a mechanic today at my not so local MF dealer. One tip/suggestion he gave me was to adjust the distributor because of wear. I got home and advanced the distributor a bit and it fired right up. Now I just need to find out why it keeps shutting off while I am using it.

    I am able to get spark by grounding the plug and turning the engine but when the plugs are in there is little to no spark. I am aware that under pressure a weak spark won't jump. Is there something else I'm missing?
