    4030 clutch won't disengage

I was thinking about something along that line as well, but I really like the idea of stepping on the chain.

I was thinking that too, but I'm just wishing its not something that I screwed up.

    4030 clutch won't disengage

I just had thought on this. If I pulled the shaft to disengage it from the flywheel and started it, then quickly tried to put it in gear, this should tell me if somehow the throwout bearing is engaging. If it still won't go into gear, it 100% has to be split, whereas now I'm only 99%.

    4030 clutch won't disengage

We had to wiggle a bit. We got it up to the dowels and pulled it in from there. I have the engine turning tool and we turned the engine constantly to monitor any change in drag.

    4030 clutch won't disengage

We struggled a bit joining them. )(it's on a loose hravel floor) A little wiggle up, a little wiggle down. Finally it slipped in up to the last 1/2 inch. I have the turning tool so we constantly rolled the engine around to see if there was ever a change. In the first attempt, we got maybe an...

    4030 clutch won't disengage

Hello, folks. I'll try to keep the history brief here. Cracked engine block. Installed rebuilt longblock. Dropped a PTO clutch friction when hanging the clutch. Split tractor again and took flywheel and clutch to Deere to replace frictions and springs and adjust the clutch. Also got advice on...

    Changing transmission on 550 question

Korves Oliver is the place I got parts from and I talked to Mark. He was helpful and knowledgeable not just about the tractor but their inventory. He knew off the top of his head about parts that they don't have and helped me with other things I might need. In other news, I ordered a PTO...

    Changing transmission on 550 question

Good news. I have a manual. Transmission is back together up to the differential, now I have to wait for seals and gaskets I ordered from a place recommended on this site. Thank you for that. They were easy to work with and very knowledgeable.

    Changing transmission on 550 question

Got it. I only pulled one grub screw all the way out and of course it was the other one that had the double grub screw. So, I think its possible to split it behind the PTO but it's much easier to do the Z split first.

    Changing transmission on 550 question

I went to that website and entered the serial number and it told me that it's not found. I tried 550 and nothing came up.

    Changing transmission on 550 question

Ok. I have this thing Z split, and have removed the following: the cast iron tube that the main clutch TO bearing rides on, MC and PTO clutch shafts, unscrewed the PTO actuator and removed all grub screws. But the PTO shaft is still on the PTO center hub. One thing I am not understanding...

    Changing transmission on 550 question

So I have to do the Z Split first. OK. I will back up a bit and go from there. First thing is to get it back together and throw a couple bolts in to hold it, then proceed with the Z Split. I have seen the double grub screw before but it wasn't on my mind. It looks like I will have to...
