    international pick up truck ?

I had a '74 IH 1700 with a 345 and a five speed-two speed drivetrain. It had a 2000 gallon propane bed on it. THE most dependable truck I ever owned. I had two other propane trucks, Chevrolet and GMC with a 366 and five and two drivetrain. The International sat out, and would start below...

    Typing

When I was in high school, the old typing teacher was teaching typing on the Mayflower. She retired in 1966. Mr. Russell, the high school principal hired a young lady, fresh out of college, Mrs. Pierce. She wasn't much older than I was then. She drove a '66 Pontiac Bonneville convertible...

    Mack trucks

Thermodyne was the terminology for non-turbocharged Mack diesel engines. Maxidyne was the turbocharged engines. I learned to drive truck on a B-61. The cab was small, so the visibility was not very good. The worst part about the '61's was the transmission. Trplex or Quadraplex twin stick...

    chewing tobacco brands

We know a lady, only 53, who lost half her face to oral cancer. Nasty stuff. Chewing is not only nasty, it can also be deadly. I know, I'm not your mother.........

    Sears To Liquidate

Legacy costs did not destroy Sears. Inept, disengaged management killed Sears. They abandoned their core business, mail order. They shortsightedly discontinued their signature brands, starting with Silvertone and Allstate in the 1970's.

    Tuesday "Extra" Pic

Wonder if they could scale that load, pulling it with a single-axle tractor? Figuring 4,000 pounds apiece, the 8 tractors would have weighed 32,000 pounds plus the trailer weight. It might have had air brakes, but JEEZ....

Unsold collector cars at auctions ....

I'd say the air conditioning outlets in the dash may be correct for the car. The compressor, condenser, radiator are definitely not correct for the car, nor would they have been from the factory. I personally don't care for continental kits or fender skirts, so that would be a minus to me...

    Flatheads Forever

Hudson engines used a high-nickel block that was long-lived, but the engines tended to use oil if you drove them easy. The rings would not seat, particularly if you used chrome rings. I've been told that Hudsons in Nascar used so much oil, they had one-gallon oil containers set up to use in...

    Can't build a pole barn

If you get tired of planning and zoning, move to Missouri. A "pole barn" in Misssouri is a carport that has gone thru a tornado in Oklahoma with used plywood baling-wired to the sides. Stacked to the rafters with junk while their $80,000 diesel dually truck sits outside.

    Holley Carb Tuning Question

My suggestion would also be late timing. I like to set timing at 36 degrees maximum advance at 1200 rpm. Doesn't matter if you have vacuum or centrifugal advance. I would also can the Holley carburetor, but that is just me.

    OT: Patsy Cline

The piano was played by Frank Scott. Kathy Lennon was the soloist of the group for a good reason. Given the right material and promotion, Kathy could have given Connie Francis a run for her money. The Patsy Cline version is hard to beat.

    Things dad used to say

My dad was a religious man, not given to strong language. "Ah, horsefeathers" was his favorite saying when he became frustrated. I did not inherit his sense of restraint.
