Ford 4000 4 Cyl torque spec question

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for! Yep, on mine there is only one big bolt on the rear of the rocker stand that is a head bolt, it is a long bolt with a 3/4" head. There are also 3 or 4, I can't remember without it in front of me, shorter and smaller bolts that are threaded into...

Ford 4000 4 Cyl torque spec question

I have the injectors out of a 172ci diesel on a 4 cylinder 4000. Can someone provide the torque specs for the bolts holding the rocker arm stand on for when I reassemble? I need the specs for the large bolt on the back of the rocker arm assembly, and the specs for the other smaller bolts...

Time for a new chain lube

While that is true that oil is changed because it is dirty, there is a major difference in the level of contaminants and the acceptable clearances/tolerances of an engine compared to a roller chain. Just because an oil is too "dirty" to provide acceptable lubrication on an engine doesn't mean...

Time for a new chain lube

I generally use gear oil. It is cheap, and it is tacky enough that is stays on the chains well. Sometimes I use 30wt non detergent motor oil if it is what I have handy.

John Deere 2 bottom plow Model 44

Do you have a welder? If so, you can lay a throwaway share on top like others have said and weld it on. It is pretty simple, you just want to weld it on in a way that the geometry of the point is the same as it would be with a new or resharpened share, and so it is oriented the same in relation...

    Small plow or similar for

I use either a potato plow/middle buster that I built, or a single row cultivator with a layoff plow bolted in the middle. The middle buster has about a 12" foot on it, I use it for making very large or deep rows. The layoff plow is basically just a rigid tine in the middle of the one row...

John Deere 2 bottom plow Model 44

I have never hammered a share out, but I have taken some blacksmith type shares and welded a throwaway share on top of them and had OK results. That might be an option for you if yours are too far gone and you can't find replacements.

    First Runup Krone AM283s Mower

That's about the height I cut. I run an old worn out 472 NH with stub guards, set as low as it'll go. I run a Farmall Super M wide open in 3rd gear. I can't match the speed of the discbines, but I do ok for my small acreages. The guys around here with the discbines and disc mowers cut about the...

    brand of hayloader?

I can't be of any help in ID'ing the machine, but it looks great! I have wanted one of those for years, but they are pretty much nonexistent here.

Hay wagon: 1 or 3 sides?

Your experience outweighs mine, I have only been haying for around 20 years. Who knows, I may have a backboard break or bend one of these days. So far the main damage I have had was the ones with 2x4 uprights would get torn up when pulling the empty wagons on the road, from the bouncing and...

Hay wagon: 1 or 3 sides?

This is how I've settled on building my wagons. The one in the pictures is 8'3" wide and 20 feet long. It is the 4th or 5th one I've built, and I've built one or two since it, but it is about the optimum size and design for what I do. It has the most angled back backboard of any I have built...
