    craftsman electrical grief

    You can't just jump this seat switch, There is a small switch with-in this seat switch plug connector. Make sure the connector is pushed on the switch tightly. If it is check the seat switch with a multimeter to see if it's opening/closing while pushed. Good Luck

    The above test should be performed with a good fully charged battery or readings will be invalid. Good Luck

    Remove the spark plug but make SURE the plug wire is away from any metal so not to jump spark then rotate the engine by hand. It's my bet the float valve stuck open and filled the cylinder with fuel. Also check the oil for fuel contamination.

    If it has a Briggs engine the first two digits of the code number is the date of manufacture, So the mower could be the same year or a year later if the engine was held over to the following year.

    Typical of MTD TA's is if it only makes noise when driving the input shaft bearings have failed and caused the input shaft bevel gear to mis-align with the driveshaft bevel gears thus wearing them as well.     how old is my hi-vac

    Kent, That's the unit model and serial numbers not the engine numbers. Model as follows; 2806 the five is a letter S..... 28= deck size....08= HP engine....6= Machine series....S= Electric start. We were a dealer years ago but I don't remember the serial number code break-down.

    The first two digits of the engine serial number denote the year the engine was built if it's the original engine for that unit.

    JT is right on flywheels being expensive, Just for giggles I checked my dealer's site. Kohler's list price is $276.00....OUCH !!! Good Luck

    Seen this happen many many times, What happens is rust builds up under the magnets and lifts the bonding agent. Have never heard of a place that re-bonds them though, They must be positioned correctly for the charging system to work. I Replace the whole flywheel in this case.

    Honda GX390 ignition

    That wire going to the coil is the kill wire, The engine was electronic ignition until you put 12 volts to it and fried the coil. Now you need to replace the coil and any business card is close enough to set the air gap on the new one.
