OT - Inventions Bought Out by the Big Corps

You're right, it was the 100mpg carburetors that all got bought out, lol. They put them on the shelf next to the engine that runs on water and all the patents for positive ground vehicles that never rust.

    Homelite Weed Eater Challenge!

Good for you Guido. I bought a refurb Homelite for $80. I never did get the line to feed properly, it ended up a tangled mess within 20 seconds of rethreading it. I damn near threw the thing away out of frustration. I put a Pivot Trim head on it with the three heavy barbed cutter lines and...

Ingersol Rand DR-150 Gyroflo Help Needed (NCWayne)

I just Googled a new IR regulator.......$1200+, yikes! Is there a small bleed valve anywhere on that regulator? Many old IR screws, and I assume vanes as well, had regulators that needed to bleed air off so that the regulator could return to full open position. I once made the mistake of...

    webster compressor?

Dang, I used to have the manual for that. I believe it is a 2-3hp pump. You would be looking at 8-10cfm or thereabout. If I had the bore and stroke of the LP cylinder I could tell you for sure.

    webster compressor?

It's a Model 60. The first two numbers in the serial# are the model number for a Webster.

    OT: Is your winter over?

Last of the snow is finally gone. It was a gradual melt, so no water in the basement this year. That's about the only good thing I can say about this year so far. It was the most brutally cold winter I can remember. It went into the deep freeze in January and never came out until about a week ago.

Farmer's tan is like plumber's crack, the first sign something's getting done.

    Air Compressor Question

No, that's a Type 30, Model 10T. A T10 is an alumnimum pump, single stage homeowner type machine.

    Old Air Compressor

It is probably sold by Grainger, but it is a Campbell Hausfeld pump, as are all (most?) Speedaire compressors.

IR Gyro-Flow GRB-125 Air Sep Filter

Try Keltec/Technolab. They may make something to fit your machine.

    Old Curtis Air Compressor

That's about a 2hp compressor, based on the bore and stroke. Should give about 6-8cfm. Long pump up means worn valves, oversized tank, rpm too low, plugged filters etc. If there is an interstage pressure relief valve, pull it out, screw in a 60psi gauge and see what the interstage pressure...

IR Gyro-Flow - Compressor end oil

Generally speaking, vanes require heavier oil due to the sliding friction of the blades against the inner wall of the stator in which they spin. Combined with the centrifugal force throwing them outward against the bore, and it is apparent why a heavier oil is needed in a vane than a screw...

2004 pontiac 2004 will not pass NY inspection

Since they went from sniffing the tailpiope to reading computer codes, the failure rate for vehicle s has gone up by five times or so. I guess they weren't making enough money in Ontario. The worthless scumbag premier who promised to get rid of the program in 2002 never did, one of the many...

    Needing a new air compressor

I second the QTS Quincy. Puma is a pretty decent unit as well. They are Chinese Swan pumps, which held up pretty good in the units we built up with them. Last time I looked at the Eaton units, they were using Sanborn SC23 and SC46 pumps, which are made in Hong Kong by LaPlante compressors. They...
