Drill Bit Sharpeners

I have a Drill Doctor still in the box stored in a cabinent. When we first tried it maybe got excited about a couple bits we sharpened but for the most part I never have found it any good at sharping bits. I don't know what I'm missing that thing is either a cheap worthless model or it will only work on bits that don't need sharpening. I might put it by the curb for free and see if it disappears?
If I sent you some $ would you mail it to me?

Ill get it out next time I'm at the farm and give you some details. When I was a Machinist the bit had to cut good and accurate with power feed or the part would get scrapped or it bit burned up. Now for hobby and repairs the need for that quality is almost non existant?

Thanks, nothing I do requires perfection.

I see on the internet they show a couple different units that bolt on to a side grinder. The appear to be orange in color and have different size holes to install the drill bit in. Any info. on these. I am not good at free handing to sharpen...
i have the drill doctor tht has been mention several times ,but for some reason i just never got along with it, its 750 model if memeber right. still been in box for quite some time now .

I learned how to sharpen drill bits in high school and have very successfully sharpened many bits. A machinist buddy of mine taught me how to offset the point if you need a slightly larger hole. It is a neat trick that can't be done on a sharpener like drill doctor or other such devices.

Gee, if I want a bigger hole, I use a bigger drill bit.

I do have a full set of jobber drill bits so I do use a bigger bit if that is the size I need. But what if I need a hole just a little bigger but not as big as my next size bit? I have the ability to offset the drill bit point.

Can you Private Message me with our contact info. I have it home but been occupied with other stuff. Since so many seem to like the Drill Doctor I thought maybe I will take a second look. If we can get together off Forum I sure a nominal amount plus shipping will be acceptable.
