Mowing yard

We had too much snow this winter.
Have a lot of crushed rocks in the yard.
Was mowing several years ago and had a fire develop. Had to call the fire department on this. Crushed rock was the cause.
Little bit worried about another fire, it has been very dry since January. Not ready to mow yet, maybe 3 weeks away. DOUG

Was the mower blade striking sparks? I am having a hard time understanding how crushed rocks caused a fire.

Very good idea, regarding that rake thing. I hope I read your post correctly, and you called the fire dept in the past, and not so that they can now look at the rocks in your yard 3 weeks before your possible mowing. I trust that they may stay busy on their own! Best of luck, first world problem, especially in time of war!

Probably just hailstones that will melt when weather gets warmer.

I bought a new leaf rake last spring just to move gravel back to the driveway. Worked pretty good. Three and a half inches of rain since Friday, now to see if we can get the 3 inches of snow they are calling for on Sunday.

I have pretty good luck getting most of the crushed stone off my driveway with my snowplowing tractor.
I finish it off with either a leaf or garden rake.
Some years it's worse than others.

Just a thought. Rake up the rocks out of the grass.

We Had a lot of Rocks in Grass when Son Plowed my drive this year with his plow on Pickup and he found on Internet a set of flapper blades for my Stihl Mini-Tiller that you take off tines and put on these flappers, There about 18 inches wide each. They work great, you take off the gear housing where shafts come out and turn it around. Sure beats a Leave rake. I do have one that does a pretty good job, but still a lot of work. Also I Never liked that little Tiller, always had trouble starting it, was used very little. He got one of those $20 Chinese Carbs for it and it starts easy now. Gene
