Gas cans a few weeks ago

Here what I use, I would think they were sold nation wide, I have around 6 or 7. Have old time vent on them, and do not have all the EPA stuff on them. Was in TSC and walked past them. Figured I post as I comes up every so often.

I have been using a red one for a year, this winter the hose broke. I thought it was just too cold. I kept the hose with the plan to buy a new clamp and reattach it. It’s 80 degrees and the hose is hard as a brick. I guess it doesn’t really like gas. I will replace it with a gas approved hose.

I thought TSC stopped selling those, but maybe not.Local man had one split open in the back of his pickup and told me how lucky he was.Turns out his wife wanted to give him a surprise, and had filled one with gas and 2 cycle oil for his saw.Hauled it out to him in the back of her SUV.An hour after he got it the container was split. It was a couple of years old.I had a tenant in my garage that went to get a couple hundred gallons of free heating oil.He borrowed my pump, and had one of those steel framed plastic totes that had carried airplane wing de-icer.It was pouring rain, and a few miles from home he realized the truck was riding worse.Somewhere in a 7 mile stretch of road that plastic tote had split and lost that 200+gallon load of # 2 fuel.I used to use those white plastic 5 gallon totes that car wash chemicals come in.Looks strong, feels strong, nice gap, good handles molded in,whats not to like.Until they're 6 months old and you grab the handle and rip the top 4 inches right off the thing.

We had a neighbor who used to send his wife to town to get ten gallons in a milk can. If she'd ever stopped quick or even turned a corner too fast, the can would have slid, the lid would have popped off and it would have turned in to a ten gallon fire ball. I don't know how he ever lived long enough to die of cancer or for her to die of whatever old age ailment took her.

I think it's the sun that does those white cans in.My wife had a couple she used to carry water to where there was no hose, she left them out in the sun all the time, and they crumbled after a while.
