cub cadet XT-1 oil drain leak.

i noticed a oil spot on the garage floor & then noticed the drain is leaking. it has the yellow twist & pull style drain. this is a Kohler 7000 24 h.p. engine. it was due for an oil change so when the oil filter was removed i could access the assembly & tightened it. it took near 2 full revolutions to snug it. hopefully tightening it resolved the issue. if not is this assembly readily available? also what size wrench fits this? i had to use a channel lock pliers cuz my largest open end wrenches are 7/8" & 22mm. my 1" crowfoot wrench is too big. is there a 15/16" wrench. there's not enough clearance for an adjustable wrench.

The threads in the block are 3/8" NPT.

Best thing to do is replace the cheap plastic drain with a brass extension, coupler and plug or an EZ Drain valve with a matching hose barb.. This will get the drain out past the frame and make things much easier and cleaner when changing oil.

Just to let you know. Depending on how your engine is mounted. You may need to loosen the mounting bolts in order to raise the engine enough to screw the drain valve in. And once it is tight. It may hit the plate that the engine is mounted to. So watch for that.
I always installed a brass tube long enough for it to clear the frame. Then installed the drain valve.
