One of those hoses that shrivels up

Not from Iceland!
Had my first experience with one yesterday. I was at a friend’s house and we needed to move the hose out of the way. He tried to undo it at the spigot, went to get a wrench. I reached down and unscrewed it. No, I don’t have superhuman strength. I just know how to undo a hose.

Got a good shower. As it slithered away, all that water had to go somewhere. Kinda funny. Impressive display as it retracted and disappeared under the fence. Now your hose stories, that’s all I’ve got.

We had a couple of them. You learn to drain them before uncoupling.

They weren't very rugged, didn't take much to put a hole in them.

There’s an adult themed joke in somewhere in that topic title.🤦🏻 I use “Ever-Kink” water hoses available at Wallyworld. Claims not to kink but does the opposite.

Put a water hose Y with valves on the faucet. Turn faucet off, open the un-used hose valve, which will release the pressure to the hose.

I purchased two of them. First one burst with a leak. Second one did the same. I never bought another one. They keep harping about how tough that outer covering is but it's the inner rubber hose that develops the leaks. Doesn't matter how tough that outer covering is then.

I have been told they also sell NeverStart batteries. I have no personal experience with either the batteries or the hoses. I've got 200-300 feet of normal hoses. No stories. Turn the faucet on, water comes out the far end. 🤷‍♂️

I agree, hoses aren’t that interesting. I have a few hundred feet as well, all given to me by someone who didn’t want them around anymore. They reach the seedling chestnut trees at the far end. Wasn’t expecting a shower yesterday and the other surprise was watching it run away after it had doused me.

Seen a snake getting amorous with one of our Gardena hoses shortly after we got them. They are the Skin Tech hoses.... so I figured it was like a blow up doll for the little feller.

Once you learn their limitations and quirks, they are a very handy addition as an RV tool. Especially the low cubic foot storage requirements of the hoses.

I've had good luck with the "shrinking" hoses. First thing is they are light and they self drain as they shrink. Storage is simple, you can drop them in a basket or bucket. Funny thing about pressure in a hose it goes away when you open the other end first, like opening the nozzle to relieve the pressure.

I think of mine as one of the best things that I have ever bought. I drag it around a lot because our house is on a little knob so all the lawn requires watering when the ground gets dry. I have four cheapies that give me problems. Two of them are because they are made of a material that won't bend unless it is above 70 degrees and in bright sun.

Found out yesterday my hose is deteriorating inside. Black rubber substance is peeling out and plugging a multi hole sprayer. Hose was kept in basement over winter. Never in freezing temps! Bummer. Maybe two years old.

I have a FELEXON hose purchased from COSTCO made in USA it must be the worst hose I've ever had if 50 degrees & cloudy it cannot be coiled up if above 75 degrees it kinks, it replaces a red rubber hose purchased from Costco 10-15 years ago. I repaired the old red hose and assigned the new hose to duty that does not require rolling up or moving. I hate it when they replace a good product with garbage.

Those expandable hoses are honestly kinda hilarious the first time you deal with one they look harmless until you crack it open and boom - instant shower. I learned the hard way too, now I always shut off the water and give it a quick squeeze to drain before unscrewing… saves you from getting soaked for no reason.

We have had a couple for a few years with no problems. Just have to make sure you turn the shut off off and leave the end open. They won't last long out in the sun if there is pressure in them when not in use. 👨‍🌾
