Case 1490 fan belt replacement instruction

Hyd. pump runs off crank hub. Does pump need to come off to replace belt or does it disconnect at the front of crank?
Thanks.

Depending on how worn the drive shaft and coupler are, you "might" be able to sneak a belt between the hub and the pulley. Otherwise the pump has to come out. The socket head cap screws that hose the pressure lines on are the worst part of the job, as they are inevitably packed full or dirt and oil, and mostly rounded out from prior changes. If I have to pull a pump on any front pump DB, I zip tie a second belt out of the way but still around the shaft while I am in there.

Hope I don't have to change the belt on ours, I thought it was the same as a 1390. That has a rubber coupling between the engine and pump that's a real pain to take out, but you don't have to take the pump loose.

Front hub came off without a hitch. Belt removed easy peasy. There was no rubber spacer between crank nut and hydraulic pump shaft even though part diagram calls for one. Not sure if I will put one in at $40.
