mystery bolt?

hi everyone,
did an engine job on my oliver diesel 1650 and decided to replace the engine mount bolts with new ones. come to find out that two of them, right rear and front left aren't just bolts. they were dowel bolts that align the engine. don't know what i did with the original bolts so i tried using a 9/16 bolt and it is just a hair too big. i guess this is critical because the oliver started to shake under a load and i guess its because the dowel bolt are not in. can't find any through the antique tractor parts sites, so any ideas?
thanks

Look at youtube, I was the other day for a refresher on pulling the engine, as my son is putting a clutch in a 1750 and it's been a few years since I did one. The guy doing the job, talks about the bolts with them being 9/16 and 1/2 and going in certain locations.

In my experience 9/16 bolts WILL go in. If anything they still allow a few thou movement. If you mic the shoulder on different bolts you will find some smaller than others, maybe you have some with a extra large shoulder?? Are you sure holes were lined up? I start bolts in the two alignment holes while engine is still on hoist so it moves around easy. If you lost the bolts was there any shims under mounts you may have lost as well? You need to check your coupling sprockets to ensure they are in alignment in both paralell offset and angular. The other thing is if your 1650 has a hydra-power or Hydraul-shift you may have to adjust the support bolt under the unit. This being said I have seen some without the support bolt. Usually if lacking support bolt they have broken ear on the bell housing! If yours does not have one I would advise installing one. Few other things that can make er shake are worn out coupling sprockets/splines/chain /bad bearing on input shaft.
