Rotary Cleaner Screens

Hi:

I have a Sioux Steel dual screen rotary cleaner. I need to replace the inner screen and am looking for sources. The inner screen for scalping the large trash. My main grains are wheal, barley, oats, and rye.

In addition to possible sources I am looking for suggestions on screen sizing. I believe I need a 4x4 or 5x5 screen mesh. I am leaning toward 4x4 mesh but will this be to large a mesh opening?

Thanks for your thoughts.

The stuff you're looking for is hardware cloth. I don't know what 4x4 means, unless you're talking millimeters. I changed the screens on my Sukup grain cleaner from corn to beans, and i ordered the stuff in inches.

But the stuff is not hard to find, be we have a good hardware store. I saw Grainger had some, they might have the size you need.

Hi:

The 4x4 mesh is number of openings per linear inch. I currently have a 2x2 mesh which means any object up to half an inch will fall thru. So I know I need more openings it is just what is the best number.

Hi:

Thanks Fritz.

I went to the local hardware store and found the hardware cloth you referred to. They carry 2 sizes 2x2 and 4x4 mesh. This is a thin wire size compared to what is on the cleaner. For the price I decided to try the 4x4 roll and see if I can adapt it to work. If nothing else it will tell me if I need a to go to 5x5 to get the separation I would like.
