Glad to be here at yesterday‘s Tractor. I have a 1986 1710 three cylinder diesel compact tractor. I’m replacing the water pump & hoses belt , thermostat just given it some love. My question is do I use Parma bond with the water pump gasket.? Thanks.

Lazy bee, welcome to YT! A lot of my reply is based on US terminology, if you are in some other location your terminology may be quite different. You are going to find that many on YT are “nit pickers” you typed “Parma bond” parma seems to be a word associated with “perfume”?? If I interpret what you typed to mean “Perma-bond” that is a two part epoxy used to set anchor bolts in hammer drilled holes in concrete?? You are asking about a gasket sealer for use on the water pump gasket. I would recommend a sealer similar to Permatex Aviation “form a gasket” which is a flowable brush on nonhardening gasket sealer. Example of Permatex sealer I would apply it to the water pump side only to aid in easy removal for the next water pump change. However if the engine block mating surface has rust pits etc. that may inhibit sealing I would apply the sealer to both sides. Good luck!
