Hello Oliver people. I have a Oliver 88 Row Crop tractor that a previous owner torch cut the fender bracket off of the rear axle housing. I want to replace the axle housing. MIne has K700 casting number on it. I found a guy who has one with KA700 casting number on it. AGCO Parts Book does not list either one of those two numbers. Does anyone know if there is a difference between those two? thanks

I honestly don't know, but you wouldn't think they would have cast the KA in because it was sold with the races in it. A part number in the book maybe. Like I said, I don't have a clue. I looked at the parts books for 88, Super 88 and 770/880 and couldn't find that KA number anywhere. It wouldn't be a long axle vegetable special version would it?

The number for normal row crop housing is -1K700C. the long axle ( 100 inch width version) is -1K700D. The standard rear carrier housing is
-1KA700A. I would think the housing that you found may be from a standard but a pic would easily tell you if its a row crop or not.
Just went out and looked at one of my rowcrop 88,s and contrary to the part number the casting number is indeed KA 700. Guessing that part numbers and casting numbers are not one and the same. Your 88 doesnt happen to be an early style? Just had a thought that Maybe casting numbers changed when they went to the fleetline??

Update to above. Just checked the other two rowcrops I have buried in the shed. One has the KA 700 casting number the other one has K 700. The one with the K700 is a couple years older but still a fleetline. Visibly I can see no difference in the housing, but may be something ? Here is a situation where the late John Swiebert would have probably known. I guess a lot of fellows that were involved with the fleetline as it evolved are no longer with us. My guess would be that the KA would work in place of a K as bolt pattern, axle size, etc. looks the same. Could just be a change in the composition of the cast? Worst case scenario it may take a different outside diameter seal or bearing but you are probably going to put new bearings and seals in anyway if you are going to the bother of changing carrier?
Coincidentally the one row crop I have has a broken off fender bracket as well ( The K700) Previos owner made up a bracket that clamped around the axle. If you want I could take a picture of it if you want to mickey mouse it?

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure what my serial number is. It has some paint over spray on it. I will have to try to clean it up and see what the serial number is. thanks again.

PROBABLY the KA700 is just an updated part; maybe to strengthen the part that broke off the K700 as yours had. There was a blurb in the Oliver Heritage about part numbers and what they mean. I don’t have it handy to say for sure.

I remember that too, but wasn't it about telling which Oliver plant it was cast at? Or am I remembering wrong?
