Ford 640 with a Sherman

I just purchased a Ford 640 with a Sherman Transmission. What is the top speed?

4th direct 14 mph
4th Overdrive, depending on rpm, 23ish though I remember closer to 28 mph on the earlier 8N. Hope someone comes along with the chart

Depends on which Sherman it has. There was an under drive model, an over drive model, and a combo model with both under and over drive ranges.

Mine has the underdrive, standard and overdrive. I was looking for the top speed in overdrive and wide open throttle.

I thought by the time the 640 came along, they were all combos.

By far the Combo is the most common Sherman I have comes across, however occasionally will come across a Reverser.

I don't have one for sale, currently rebuilding one to use in another tractor. They pop up from time to time on places like craigslist or e-bay. They are on the heavy side so shipping can get expensive really quick.
