No oil to Rockers

Oil delivery tube not oiling on a Fresh rebuild 800 Ford Engine. ?? Any one know if this tubes termination in the block with the Pan dropped can be seen? Can this tube be extracted from the engine by pulling it up from the top of the head for inspection of the end and seal?

Yes. The tube is pulled straight up. You cannot see the end of this tube by dropping the oil pan. Be prepared to replace the "square" O ring before reinstalling it. Question: Do you have oil pressure? There is another larger rubber seal where the oil pump discharge goes into the block. You can see this by dropping the oil pan.

The oil feed is thru a hole in the camshaft. Oil is only provided to the rockers when the hole in the camshaft is aligned with the tube feeding the rocker shaft. So if you are trying to prime the system on a newly rebuilt engine it's unlikely the alignment will permit oil to the rockers.

Picture: Camshaft is directly right of the distributor drive gear. Note how oil passes to the rockers only when the hole in the camshaft aligns with the feed and the tube.

Thanks for that spec sheet it really helps. I had the machine shop pre assemble the block befor I got it home and finished up the rest. I pulled the side cover that is over the push rods and that rocker supply tube is in the center. I can see the seal flush with the bottom. should it be down farther into the block? I tried to pull the tube out to inspect the end and seal but it would not budge. It also won't go down any further. I'am going to run more test this week, and will post what I find. Thanks everyone for the help. Max
