United tractor Warehouse tug G-40-C

Hello all, great forum on an abstract bit of true Americana. I'm new here and found this forum trying to identify the blue and white tractor in the attached pics with the hanger 30 decal on it. I am pretty confident that the attached yellow tractor is the model, the United warehouse tug g-40-c. This tractor is located at the Camarillo airport and is in need of brakes as it is used to tow helicopters around from time to time. Any help out there on locating rear wheel cylinders, a master cylinder, and a proper vacuum booster for the brakes would be much appreciated. Of course there is no serial number or markings left on it. I am estimating it in the early 70's. I have found some Army literature on maintenance, and the demolition of it, but would really like to just have the parts sourced before I get it taken apart.
Thanks in advance. That's the old leaning tower of power I assume?

Hello pushback, welcome to YT. I found a parts catalog that I believe applies to your machine, here is a link. United G40C parts catalog The link will take you to an initial page of the “storage bank” where it is held. I wanted you to see that the G40C crosses to the Army No. MHE217 NSN 3930-00-181-3217.(NSN National stock number/FSN Federal stoc…) I was able to find brakes shoes which are not cheap, but wheel cylinders which should be able to be sourced at a regular auto parts store. The catalog does not show a vacuum booster. So that was added later unless back more in the catalog it may be shown as an option, I have no idea. Many times boosters have metal tags on them identifying their part numbers. Not sure if you have did this kind of work but you will probably want new hub seals to replace them when you have them off.
Here is a link to a “maintenance manual” for it. Not sure how detailed it is in terms of the brakes I didn’t spend much time looking through it. United G40C manual
Just FYI, not sure if you attempted some web searches but often in the terms of machines or parts added hyphens and spaces often deter a search.
Edit: sorry it looks like I won’t be able to link that manual, the site is called SCRIB, it will probably show up if you search United G40C.

Thanks MN, I see that there is no vacuum booster in the manual, but there is definitely something on it, I didn't open it up, there is a panel forward of the pedal, that I tried to get a picture of what's in there, cause I can hear the vacuum assist and trace the hose off of the intake to that compartment, but what i see in there doesn't look anything like what I'm familiar with and I didn't see the master cylinder either, but I didn't have tools with and was just stopping by to identify it first, yeah good call on the hub seals, I've done a few different tractors some Clark CT50 and some SMC 120's. I attached a pic of what lived where I expected to find the master cylinder. The picture is upside down, for some reason i put it right, and the web site inverts it again. I know it's a terrible pic. I've just never seen anything like it and it has the fill plug and tube that goes somewhere. I need to get at it with Jack stands and find the master. Thanks again appreciate your time.

Nope, that's a Mopar flathead.

Discontinued in cars and trucks when the slant six went into production in1960 I think, but lived on for quite a few years in equipment, tugs like yours, forklifts, etc.
That's the last time i believe chat GPT, I assumed that was the nickname for the Chrysler flathead inline 6 after running the pick through AI. I see a lot of Chrysler engines on these tugs , usually V*s though. Thanks for clarifying that.

That unit is called a hydrovac brake booster! It will very likely have an ID tag on it.

The leaning tower of power was the nickname for the slant six due to it's slant, looks like it's leaning.

Side hill six is another nickname for it though not as common.

Hello Red, I did manage to find the wheel cylinders on ebay, but couldn't find anywhere that had the shoes npn #
2530-00-484-8342 brake shoe rear
2530-00-912-4341 trans brake shoes
Thanks in advance I really appreciate the help.
