Harbor Freight Magnetic Lights

Do any of you have experience with the magnetic trailer lights that Harbor Freight sells for about $35?. My trailer I use to haul my golf cart around sets outside all the time. Rodents chew the wiring and at 78, it is getting harder to crawl under it and splice wires. I only use it a few times a month in the summer. Figured I could just put them on the trailer when I wanted to use it and remove when done. Main concern is the strength of the magnets so I don't leave them laying in the road.

I had them on a dump trailer but let them go with the trailer when I sold it. I never had a problem but like you, I was concerned so backed them up with large cable ties. Never had them disconnect so never had to rely on my backup.

I have a set that I have used a few times. They have never fallen off. Not sure where they came from.

It’s been 4-5 years ago, but I used my brother’s truck to pick up a tractor that was about 8 hours away. The wiring on his truck didn’t work with my trailer lights, but the Horror Freight lights worked good and made everything legal. I used them only for a couple days, but worked just fine during that time.

I have an older set that I use on my tandem axle trailer I use to move my tractors and equipment and have not had them come off unless I took the off.

Magnets are not strong enough for highway speeds when the highway is rough. If you have them protected a bit from the wind they work not bad. I zipped tied them and also made a pocket for them to sit in.

Works fine for temporary use. Now if you are like me and a bit of a redneck a couple of self-drilling screws and some duct tape and it is germinate.

I bought the wired harbor freight magnet lights specifically for this towing application. You can see them mounted on top of the spreader.

5 hours later and not a smooth ride by any means they were still on and working
