8n that needs to be buried!

Well final result, motor flat worn out. Leak down test had strong air blowing by rings and valves. Going to be completely rebuilt to tolerance. New valves, guides, rings, possibly pistons. After talking with a longer timer at the museum it has been burning oil and not running great for a while.

Thank you all for the knowledge.
Something to consider…..new seats if it’s within your means or to have a shop do it. I replaced my valve seats with stellite and had the local mechanic do a 3-angle job. Not his typical work, but he just so happened to have rebuilt his late pawpaw’s 8N a couple years prior and happened to have the Neway cutter sized for it. I also rebuilt the engine with new crank, pistons, rings, sleeves, oil pump, rotating valve assembly, new lifters (my own fault getting them out of order), and pickup tube.

She now starts with a 1-2 second press of the button and puts up 30# oil pressure at idle. The gauge is pegged out at 60% throttle. I’ve never even bothered to check compression after the rebuild. Long story short, explore if it’s feasible to replace the seats. If it’s clapped out as bad as you say, it might warrant new seats.
