Our farm’s new horse

Our new to us tractor was shipped in Wednesday, versatile 876, I want to go back to some tillage as been no tilling for 20 years. This will pull the 5 shank ripper right and I had to remove 2 shanks to pull with our 2470. I figured I would post as I think we all like tractors, and it shows no leaks and the wife still talking to me so can’t be that bad.

Nice.
That's a beast compared to what we ever farmed with... a JD 4020 was our little beast.

What is the hp on the 876 compared to the 2470s 176 hp? I pull a 5 shank disc ripper with my 4690 set at 300 hp.
I have a M&W 5 shank disc ripper but right now disc are off. It was a bad design on that part but ripper full down is apx 26 inches. The 876 is rated at 280 and has the L10 Cummins in it. Mine is gear not power shift and one of the reasons I bought it.

I think the L10/ISM engine is the overall best engine Cummins ever made; and it does not have the EPA crap to contend with. Best of luck with your new toy. er_ pardon me, workhorse.

Curiosity kicking in here. What does it have for a transmission?

For an apples to apples comparison: the engine HP of the Versy is 280 vs roughly 210 for the 2470 to give a relative comparison between the two. Most Versatile do not have pto so the pto hp was seldom quoted. Versatiles are common here in Alberta. Transmissions will be a 12 speed manual (common) or 12 speed twin disc powershift (rare).

That looks like a decent pick. The "plus" I think I see is that the rubber looks reasonable, and they may have been off recently. Reasonable corrosion that will be a nice off-season maintenance project, and intact cab.

Hopefully that works out for you in the Connertucky Zone.

there is the two outside duels I plan replace on the other side of the tractor this summer or next winter. Needs cab kit and a few other things but will see what shows up this planting season.
