3 cylinder diesel. Tried to start it for the first time since December. Hit nice for about 1 second and died. Fuel squirts at the pump. Fuel seeps out ( not squirting out )at the line screws. Won’t start again. Thoughts? Should I have more pressure there? It ran well when I put it to bed for the winter.

Thanks.

My first guess is your metering valve.

Decades ago, I learned that CAV pumps like to be "unused" with the fuel cutoff knob remaining in the off position after you stop the engine. Is there any connection between this and the metering valve problems. I have had Fords as my predominant tractor for decades, always did this, always had CAV rotary pumps and never had that kind of a problem!!

Just closing out this thread. I worked both the shut off lever and the throttle lever vigorously while cranking the engine. One of these freed up the metering valve ( I suspect it was the shut off lever ). I added some 2 stroke oil and mowed a couple of acres. I hope this is behind me. From what I've read, added oil to the fuel and storing the machine with the shut off in the run position will help ( never really paid any attention to this ).

Thanks for the replied as I was ready to take the top off for the next step.
