Flywheel Timming Marks

Hi everyone: I have a Ford 821C with a fresh rebuild engine. I can't seem to locate the timming marks on the face of the Flywheel. Anyone have this problem? Thanks Max

I can never remember which surface to look on. There are two surfaces visible, 90 degrees apart. I sometimes hold a green nylon scrubber pad against it while running to shine it up.

Did you mean 821D? I don't recall a "C" suffix for the '01 series.

I have a 172 with no marks on the flywheel.

Be on edge by starter ring gear.. Thats where they are my 172 diesel. When had flywheel off moved the important ones to face.

Roll your engine to near TDC using air blowing in/out the #1 spark plug hole to get close. then look for the marks, The are on the flywheel NOT the ring gear. After finding mine, I put some orange paint on the ring gear where the marks are.

I have a 172 with no marks on the flywheel.

Somebody changed put a new flywheel on.

Yeah I know, I turned the engine over real slow with wrench. This was a few years ago, Will try again for a look see, that rig needs to come in the shop anyway.

They are not easy to see. If there is any clutch dust or oil at all you will not see them. Find TDC using you wrench. Then look.
