I have a 1971 ford 2000 and last year before winter i wouldn’t hesitate to plow half of america with it. I stored the tractor over winter and went to get tractor out of storage and all it did was crank over and have no spark. After diagnosis i found the points were very fowled and worn, so i replaced the points condenser rotor cap and went to start it still nothing. If i put very little pressure on the distributor cap the tractor fires right up and will run all day, but as soon as i shut it down and try to restart it, the tractor will just crank and crank until i put very little pressure on the cap then it starts. Any insight would be very appreciated.

Bend up that tab on the rotor a touch & see if that helps. No need to get too crazy with it. Also check if the alignment notch, on the cap, is in the correct spot & fits right.

There is the slight chance the cap is bunk, too.
