John Deere 410 G backhoe electric issue

The other day my backhoe had a light on the dash that had to do with the alternator but the machine starts and runs fine. What doesn't work is the backhoe and many other things like the heater blower, the lights, horn just to name a few. I checked the fuses on top of the steering column and they were all fine. Took the screws out of the dash panel but I wouldn't even know where to look in that mess of wires. Has this happened to anyone else out there or does anyone have any ideas what I should look for? Thanks in advance for any help you might have, Rick

Welcome to the forums.

That sounds like it may have a relay, that powers those items, that that has failed for one reason or another. The parts catalog shows several relays in the electrical system. Check ground connections and plug together connectors. Beyond that you will likely need the JD 410G test manual TM1881 which has the wiring diagrams and electrical testing information for the electrical system. The repair manual is JD TM1882, it has "wrenching" info for repairs. This is one of the models that JD decided needs a set of two TMs.

My apologies to Rick as this doesn't help him any. You struck two of my nerves. I have a CaseIH 7240 tractor which will die without warning, which is most annoying. It's the solenoid down in the right front corner of the cab with all of the other electrical equipment. It has been replaced, but apparently we cannot produce one which is up to the task. And my JD 317G compact track loader doesn't track straight. I purchased several hundred dollars worth of manuals to obtain the one page which tells me how to calibrate it. Once the oil is up to 140 degrees F calibration is all done from the seat with push buttons. I would so much rather be able to just twist a few wrenches and get it done!

Guys I am no electrician for sure but one of my problems is finding the fuses or relays to check. People are telling me there is a fuse block behind the seat under the back window . There is not. The only fuses I can find are on top of the dash and they are for the lights, horn and things like that. No one has a good answer for me as to where the other fuses are located.

While a simple question you are asking a lot. Very few here are going to have hands on knowledge of a JD 410G you are asking for, to simply tell you exactly where to look for the fuses and relays.

This is a case where you will likely need to spend some money to help yourself some. A number of us here have invested in the correct manuals for our newer machines, that don't fit the focus of this "antique" tractor forum.

Do you have the JD Operator's Manual OMT201153 for the 410G? It may have some of the info you need on the fuses. You can download a free copy at the link below. On that homepage type 410G in the model search box and then click the search icon at the right end of the center box. That should open the list of manuals and documentation for the 410G loader hoe. Scroll down and you will find the operator's manual. Click the download button at the left of the title and it will download a free copy to your computer or device, which you can save and print from as you wish. The Technical manuals are all purchase items, and you can find instructions on doing that there as well. There is a customer service phone number if you need help.

Do you have the Test and Operational John Deere Technical Manual TM1881 (It will have detailed info on the electrical system).

Do you have the John Deere Technical Manual TM1882 Repair manual, it has "wrenching" info.

Do you have the Parts Catalog PC2756? Here is a link to the online catalog if you don't have one or use the online one.
