Trouble light with hook on top that swivels

I have one from Harbor Freight that swivels. But,it is just a plastic hook with a ball on the bottom that pops into a hole in the top of the light. If you don't watch what you're doing and step on the cord, you will pull the light down and leave the hook up there.I just have to snap it back in.That's what happens to me under the lift.About 15 years ago the insurance company wrote me a notice to remove all conventional droplights from the shop.Only plascic shielded LED's or florescent hand held lamps.I had gone to LED rechargables anyway.

I have had wire cage drop lights and plastic cage ones with a swivel hook, but never a steel one that swiveled. I quit drop lights 5-6 years ago, and went with head lamps. The biggest difference is that you can always point rthe headlamp where you want it while the drop light always points into your eyes.

X2 on the headlamps, I use the LEDs from Amazon, you can get three for around $25.

I was talking to an insurance adjuster several years ago and he told me every garage fire he had ever seen ( open at the time of the fire) was caused by a dropped light setting off gasoline. Spill or leak.

I know of several these days that burnt because of charging rechargeable batteries. I place my charger on the concrete floor away from combustibles when charging cordless batteries.

The hook broke off of my steel cage , so for temporary I folded a length of tie wire in half and twisted it to the cage.

Then I found out that the hook was adaptable to any situation, just by reshaping it to hook onto or face in any desired direction.... I never did weld the original hook back on, and it's not " on the list".

Yep, me too. I found this one and it's really great, I have the choice of flood or spotlight. It also has a proximity sensor, when I have greasy hands, I just wave it beside my head and turn the light off or on.

I have seen the pop-up adds for these but this is more resonable, and I like that it is rechargeable. Thanks!

I can't seem to find a trouble light that the hook on top swivels. I could use just the wire cage, Thanks
I have one with a plastic cage, rotating hook, that I bought in a grocery store of all places. It's a family owned Texas chain that has been in business, usually serving rural areas, for half a century. They have a section on things non grocery related which is usually well occupied with engine oil and tranny fluid. Was only about 10 bucks....but that was awhile ago.

I been saving ever wire cage that my parents had and I have accumulated in 73 years of my life. I think that adds up to maybe 8-10 but they all need the light fixture and new cords. (lots of light burning in my eye, burns & broken bulbs from dropping) Maybe I should offer them for sell? The last light I bought was a Florescent trouble light years ago which works fine but doesn't use anymore. I found a small Mag lite is handy for seeing in dark places when needed.

I still have a caged (plastic) trouble light hanging from a retractable reel mounted to the ceiling of my shop.I even use it once and a while. Insurance man did a home inspection, did not even want to go in the shop, or to the basement to see our wood burning furnace, looked iover the ouside ask about the electrical service to the house and outbuildings and was on his way. I was prepared to give him the grand tour and correct any issues, but followed his lead, all is well. gobble

I serviced home furnaces back when oil was used a lot. I have a service florescent fixture that is hand healed or hung horizontally with two wire hooks or vertical with one plastic hook.
