Throw that garbage in the garbage can. Why cement gaskets in place. Use permatex high tack sealer.

hello,, the High Tac also drys out ,, I threw away a can of it this week because it was dried out,, less than a year old,, the Permatex avaition gasket sealer,, shellac lasts longer than that,, I use it on ALL paper type gaskets for water, antifreeze applications,, for 50+ years..

One for most every application these days
Ultra black gasketmaker is the workhorse of the bunch around here
No gasket needed in some applications

That stuff dries hard like cement. Then when it comes time to clean the gasket surface it’s a nightmare. High tack sealer never hardens , tacky enough to hold the gasket in place. And easy to clean and remove a gasket. The only stuff I have been using for over 50 years.
