Where to sell a 430?

I need to sell our 430 and not sure where is the best place.

I see the auctions sites, but the tractor is Alabama and most seem to be in the Midwest. I know and use Marketplace. Just thinking it might bring more at a proper tractor auction but not sure if location is an issue? It is located in Alabama and seems most of the auctions houses are mid west based.

We have this thing for 30 years or more. It is a restoration candidate for sure. But it runs and we still used it till a couple of years ago when I sold my property.

Looking for a little advice.

Any area auction services with online bidding where the tractor is located? Do they sell agricultural equipment on a regular basis? Is the tractor a low production variation of the 430? Unless the answer is yes to my third question I would get with a local auctioneer who knows farm equipment and has online capability (not all of them do). If you have time to sell this meaning many months you could try listing online with FB MP or Craigslist and start with a high asking price then work down if no takers. Back to auction a service such as Polk's gets a lot of exposure and sells online. I've seen them sell tractors far from their yard but I think the preference is for the tractor to be in their yard which would be an added expense. A low production variation would bring more through a national service such as Polk or Aumann but then the additional cost needed to be figured in versus the expected selling price. People like to brag that they sold through Polk or Aumann but they never said if it was actually worth the extra expense.

Weekendfreedomachines.com. Jd lawn and garden. If it runs 1500.00 and up to 7,000.00 restored

Not a collector, so I don't know details as in eactly what options it has. I have been told it was well equipped but again, not a tractor guy.

Got to get some updated photos of it. I know it has the spin out rear wheels. Wide (I think that is the right term) front axle. Past that I don't know what options it has.

Not aware of any local auctions but that is a good idea and no sure why I hadn't thought to look for one.

A local auctioneer is worth investigating and should answer questions as to fees and experience selling farm tractors. If you don't think that you are getting straight talk then move on. 504 brings up a good point in that you are talking a farm tractor from around 1960 and not a garden tractor from around 1980?

It is always best you clarify which 430 you are talking about. JD used 430 for an Ag tractor and again for a Garden tractor. My guess is you are talking about an Ag tractor.

Know what price you would like to get for it and the minimum you will take for it.

In the Midwest Facebook Marketplace is a good place to sell equipment. Also try advertising in your local John Deere collectors club news letter. Clean it up, have it ready to show to potential buyers and to send down the road, take plenty of pictures, and write an honest description. If you are looking to sell it within a few weeks advertise it at a reasonable price. If you are looking for top dollar try selling it locally for a few months then send it to an auction.

Unless it’s something rare, you’ll likely be disappointed in auction price. Of course there are exceptions, but as a rule auction prices are lower than retail prices.
Honestly, marketplace is your best bet.
