Another Z question

IMG_7200.jpeg

I bought a used radiator for my tractor. Had the radiator pressure tested and it passed so I installed, using the hardware my service manual listed. The left side of the shroud lined up & bolted up fine. The right side (pictured here) has about 2” gap between the shroud and shell and the bolts can’t close the gap. The shroud is dented up so all I can think is it’s too dented to fit properly. I bought another shroud but I guess after 70 years most are in similar shape. What options do I have to finish? I’ve been thinking I’ll just take it back to the radiator shop and ask the owner if he can work with the shroud and get it to fit.

Looks like your head light bracket bolts are holding you out, they usually go through the shroud to not just bolted to the grill shell, if the left side is the same that would be about what you are lacking of coming in like it belongs.

What year? Shroud is off a 38-39. I can measure some of mine if know year. Was a rad changeup in 1940. Maybe a R radiator. All have same JT part # but with different suffix.

I think I answered my own question. I think my radiator shell is bent

i had noticed that too and had the same thought. I backed out on them last night to see if I could get it to fit.. still doesnt fit. I can’t figure out if maybe this side of the radiator shell is bent out just enough where it won’t fit snug.

It’s a 47 Z. Radiator is a Modine but not sure part number right off. For some reason I’m thinking it’s 6621 maybe. I can look later. Won’t all year ZTU radiators fit, with some modifications maybe needed?
