Why suffering and bad things happen is a valid question, thats for sure. Im guessing we all have had these things happen too. Parts of my childhood have affected me now into my 60s. Why a spouse or child is taken early and the suffering that comes with that.. The crime and needless death that happens when some one is running from the cops and t-bones an innocent family, the multiple people we've all probably all lost due to drug ODs. And on and on. Evil seems to have no bounds..
I can tell you what I and my wonderful wife believe. Neither one of us was raised in what I would call a christian home. We both consider ourselves born again christians for lack of a better term.
God has left us His words on everything, in the Bible. Using that as our standard questions like the one above become more clear.
How do we know then that bible is the word of God? A LOT could be written on that but heres a quick chart and some text I like that shows reasons why the bible may be more valid than what we may have been led to believe.

The fact that the bible is even available is something to consider when since before the time Christ walked on the earth to modern times there has been on going efforts to destroy all traces of it yet it remains the most printed and distributed book of all time.
The bible has answers to those that honestly seek to know but many times people dismiss it without having read it or really wanting to know what it says.
Matthew 7:7 in the new testament say's
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Thats not talking about material things but about honestly asking God the questions we have. Honestly seeking to understand.
1 John 5:14
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."
It is Gods will for for us to know him and have understanding so He will hears us when we ask and will answer us. If we just dismiss God and His words left to us we will never see beyond that.
The Bible records the creation of the universe, the origins of life, the moral law of God, the history of man’s rebellion against God, and the God’s work of redemption for all who accept and trust in His Son.
We are a fallen people, in a fallen world resulting in much of the misery and chaos around us. There is a judgement on the world and mankind as revealed in Genesis. It is spiritual. There is a spiritual realm of good and evil. And spiritual laws. By the law, we are doomed.
Yet, God has provided a way, God reaching down to man with a way of salvation. A way of understanding and more importantly a way of escaping the sentence of death. Suffering is a part of this life. We are not meant to have all the answers in our physical body but will know when we leave this world.
John 3:16-17
For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only son Jesus that those who believe in Him would be saved. For God did NOT send his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him would be saved.
One should also consider the changed lives of those who now have a relationship with Jesus. I personally know that myself, and have seen it in others I know firsthand.
And theres no shortage of it in public testimony's, like here...

The most convincing thing to me though is creation. How birds, animals, people, the planets, just all of it... How could any of that happen without a Creator is something I have yet to see evidence of. To me it is easier to believe in a God who was able to create all of it than all of it just evolving from nothing. In a way like your favorite tractor, it didn't just happen.
I just wanted to state a few reasons why I and many others believe what we do.
I hope nothing Ive said comes across in anything except a loving way. message boards and texts can often be misunderstood.
I hope anyone that honestly questions God looks for themselves and asks Him to reveal Himself to them.
