Unfortunately I had to take a break

Who did all that work on you?

Pretty sure it wasn't some imaginary being.
Surgeons and Doctors, during a timespan of 20 yrs. The good side of all that is, none of the expenses were out of pocket. Between Medicare insurance and TRICARE for LIFE retired military medical coverage, every penny was covered.

Why suffering and bad things happen is a valid question, thats for sure. Im guessing we all have had these things happen too. Parts of my childhood have affected me now into my 60s. Why a spouse or child is taken early and the suffering that comes with that.. The crime and needless death that happens when some one is running from the cops and t-bones an innocent family, the multiple people we've all probably all lost due to drug ODs. And on and on. Evil seems to have no bounds..
I can tell you what I and my wonderful wife believe. Neither one of us was raised in what I would call a christian home. We both consider ourselves born again christians for lack of a better term.

God has left us His words on everything, in the Bible. Using that as our standard questions like the one above become more clear.
How do we know then that bible is the word of God? A LOT could be written on that but heres a quick chart and some text I like that shows reasons why the bible may be more valid than what we may have been led to believe.

The fact that the bible is even available is something to consider when since before the time Christ walked on the earth to modern times there has been on going efforts to destroy all traces of it yet it remains the most printed and distributed book of all time.

The bible has answers to those that honestly seek to know but many times people dismiss it without having read it or really wanting to know what it says.
Matthew 7:7 in the new testament say's
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Thats not talking about material things but about honestly asking God the questions we have. Honestly seeking to understand.
1 John 5:14
"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."

It is Gods will for for us to know him and have understanding so He will hears us when we ask and will answer us. If we just dismiss God and His words left to us we will never see beyond that.

The Bible records the creation of the universe, the origins of life, the moral law of God, the history of man’s rebellion against God, and the God’s work of redemption for all who accept and trust in His Son.
We are a fallen people, in a fallen world resulting in much of the misery and chaos around us. There is a judgement on the world and mankind as revealed in Genesis. It is spiritual. There is a spiritual realm of good and evil. And spiritual laws. By the law, we are doomed.
Yet, God has provided a way, God reaching down to man with a way of salvation. A way of understanding and more importantly a way of escaping the sentence of death. Suffering is a part of this life. We are not meant to have all the answers in our physical body but will know when we leave this world.

John 3:16-17
For God so LOVED the world that He gave His only son Jesus that those who believe in Him would be saved. For God did NOT send his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him would be saved.

One should also consider the changed lives of those who now have a relationship with Jesus. I personally know that myself, and have seen it in others I know firsthand.
And theres no shortage of it in public testimony's, like here...

The most convincing thing to me though is creation. How birds, animals, people, the planets, just all of it... How could any of that happen without a Creator is something I have yet to see evidence of. To me it is easier to believe in a God who was able to create all of it than all of it just evolving from nothing. In a way like your favorite tractor, it didn't just happen.

I just wanted to state a few reasons why I and many others believe what we do.
I hope nothing Ive said comes across in anything except a loving way. message boards and texts can often be misunderstood.
I hope anyone that honestly questions God looks for themselves and asks Him to reveal Himself to them.

Very well put.

Another resource to check out is "The Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel. This man is a well known investigative reporter who was a confirmed atheist. He did a lot of reading and interviewed a lot of Bible scholars and became a believer. Well worth reading.

Understood. I will submit to you that it takes more of a jump for me to believe that theory that creation.
None of us were there so in essence, I guess both creationism and the big bang are both theories.
There are a lot of sources to support creationism as well but I think the big bang being the most widely accepted, as that article states is because almost all education systems today teach it as fact.
There is quite often very little tolerance for the other side of the debate.
But there is a lot of evidence and support for it such as archeological discoveries, the fossil record and places like https://www.icr.org/
But they wont let that opinion be taught in public schools.
None the less, there are many scientists, PHDs and the like who are creationist.

I have read that about him. I need to get that book.

I have been having shortness of breath and dizziness for a few months.
So my primary care doctor had a bunch of tests done to see if he could figure out what was causing it. After having over a half dozen tests done,
Everything came back normal! But he told me that he was going to refer me to a cardiologist. So last week, I went to the cardiologist and he had reviewed all the tests. He said the same thing as my primary. “ Gary, I don’t see anything wrong with any of the tests results.” Then he said that I had two choices to determine what was the next step! He said I could just go home and see how things go in the next few months and if it continued to come back in or he could do a cardiac catheterization procedure and it would tell us 100% that it is not a cardiac issue, since all indications of my symptoms were pointing to a cardiac condition. I have always been a proactive type person not a reactive type person. So I said let’s do it and then we know for sure that it isn’t the heart. Well, I am in the hospital tonight because he had to implant two stents. So I guess I have dodged another bullet! As, I have told yall before, I had prostate cancer in 2024 but now I am cancer free, first bullet and now this. I can only say one thing, I believe that God has a purpose for me to be living! I don’t know what he wants me to do yet but I believe he has a purpose for me.
So if anyone has not given their life to GOD, I recommend that you pray about it, for he is the only way to everlasting life and he will prepare a place in heaven for you only if you put your life in his hands and believe that he gave his only son to die for our sins and if we believe in him, we will have eternal life in heaven with him. God Bless you my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Very well said. You need to share this with Old, Rich needs your strength shared with him.....

Good luck with your recovery. Don't forget to take your listening pills!

Good stuff.

"He" didn't have anything to do with it.
One evening our preacher was driving a school bus with about 30 of us back from a convention. The church secretary began talking about predestination. The preacher stopped the bus to let a couple out at their house, when the secretary said she firmly believed in predestination. The preacher said, "if you truly believe that, get out, stand in front of the bus. If it's not your time you will live after I drive over you.
That conversation suddenly stopped.

Similar symptoms, I passed a stress test at the heart specialist, it got worse, went to ER an MRI showed a clot in both lungs. They sent me straight to the hospital for extensive application of blood thinners, now on blood thinner.

I do believe God is in control He has a plan for our lives, when it's your time it will happen, He is in total control but yes, we do have free will, but he knows what we will do before we do it

Almost My same story. I had prostate cancer about 10 years ago. Radiation treatment took care of that. What caused that? I worked at my factory job around chemicals, for a lot of years, or. agent orange. I have high blood pressure. A lot of different tests for that. Still don't know why. Pills keep it under control. At 83 I still have my weed mowing business. God is keeping me going for a reason. Stan
