"Modern" starter for John Deere A

I have a late model John Deere A with the belly starter. A bird or squirrel or something or other got into the starter before I purchased the tractor and tore up the internal parts pretty good. I have read several threads on this site and others that there are modern, solenoid-type starters that can bolt in and be used in place of spending $700ish on an original style starter or rebuilding the tore up one I have.

Is this correct, and if so, does anyone have a part number, or even better yet a link, to a compatible starter? I've asked this in the John Deere forum but didn't get a reply so thought I'd try here.

get another used starter from an AR or A . lots of them junked. be like 50.00
