T20 fergie,hard steering

Yes, any of the 10Si alternators will work fine. Does not need to be 100 amp, if 60 or 36 amp will work find if it's cheaper.

yup,i understand it origionally had a generater.this was redone 12 volt at some time. Where do i find a one wire alternater? Any Delco on amazon?

thanks for putting up with my questions.I need a lot of help getting this old tractor the way i want it.
Thanks
I Installed a "ONE WIRE Alternator" on my CASE 930,(6 speed,Gasoline engine).....,,100 % satisfied.
As soon as the 930 case fires and is at minimum speed the alternator is charging..........:)

I Installed a "ONE WIRE DELCO Alternator" on my Massey Ferguson 35 X (3 cylinder Perkins diesel),....100 % satisfied.
As soon as the 35 X Perkins fires and is at minimum speed, the alternator is charging..............:)

I shall check for a PART # tomorrow, as I have a new "ONE WIRE DELCO Alternator" that shall be installed on my McCormick W9....:)
:)
I have NOT located a specific supplier, that sells/produces mounting brackets to upgrade from a Generator to an Alternator, however, there may be a supplier?

Apparently, there are owners that have installed an Alternator, and the Tractor Engine had to be revved up before the Alternator would charge.

You as the owner, you can do anything to your Tractor that you decide to do.........HOWEVER,your Tractor Engine may not have acceptable oil pressure....:(

Any VINTAGE Ferguson TEA-20's,TO20"s, TO30's MF 35's W9's,John Deere 520, AR John Deere,2N Ford's that I've been around,15-40 oil and or Straight 30 was used in the ENGINE to maintain Engine oil pressure, at Engine operating Temperature.

My Ferguson TEA-20, has been on "now my property "since new,and the original owner (purchase Tractor 1950) started to ran 30 weight oil in the TEA-20 Engine, thus, I'm continuing with 30 weight.

The Engine oil psi starts out at 30 psi and drops to 18 psi under load, with the Engine up to operating temperature (Engine has a Thermostat ).
The Tractor pulls a two bottom plough, and has never had an engine problem since I purchased the property and Tractor in 1975. Summer temperatures usually 70F > 80F.

The TEA-20 Timing chain and sprockets have been changed since I purchased the Tractor.
I'm sure other owners shall comment......:)

What is "rotella t 10"? If it's 10 weight, that is too thin. 30wt winter, 40wt summer.

As far as transmission/hydraulic oil the operator's manual for my TE-20 (similar to the TO-20) says 90 weight mineral oil. While there are other fluids that work you have to be careful as it is my understanding that some of the newer oils attack bronze pieces in the transmission/differential sections. Me? I use 90 weight mineral oil. It's slow in the winter but it works. I was able to get it at Tractor Supply, but it isn't cheap. There have been discussions about this here in the forum and you can do a search to find them.

i have 12 liters of straight 10 weight oil .Can i use this for the old fergie t20 engine?
or would it be better used for the tranny /rearend?

ok.I do have 21 liters of UTI
This is a "ONE WIRE" Delco Alternator....

There are "other single wire Alternators", "that are
more compact", also "look more professional installed",on Vintage equipment....

Pic is of my Case 930 6 speed,Gasoline Engine......

"YT" has a one wire Alternator advertised, and a universal mounting Bracket, that you may have to have a skill set to modify..
Bob..

If the Alternator is a direct installation, turn the key on and run........you hit a home run.....:) 63 amps is fine.
No guarantees you will not have to rework the mounting bracket.
Depending on your skill set............:)
On my Case 930,I had to cut shims / spacers made from 3/8" pipe nipples to align the drive pulleys...no big deal.

I have added seafoam to the Fuel Tank on my TEA-20,as well as my John Deere D's.
The Seafoam "POSSIBLY" ????? cleared up the idle circuit, then again ?????
