What tractors did you drive as a kids?

Could have been a R, 80, 820 or 830
I don't think it was a 20 or 30, don't remember it having yellow on the sides, all green. I was on the farm where I ran it a while ago and talked to the son of the father/son pair who I worked for in high school. I never thought to ask him what became of the JD and the Massey. I can still hear the 2 cylinder hammering away, puking fuel out the exhaust and being covered with it by the end of the day. I really didn't like that tractor much!

Starting at age 9, I spent thousands of hours on a Farmall H by the time I left the farm to go to college. Leaving the farm wasn't my best choice ever, lol. But I was young and stupid.

'49 John Deere B
'5x John Deere A
'53 McCormick Super W6
?? Co-op E3

The B and the W6 were Dad's, the A and the Co-op belonged to the neighbor across the road who rented Grandpa's house and helped out on the farm.

First tractor i remember driving was our 830 case-o-matic. We were picking rocks and I remember I was so small I wasnt close to reaching the pedals, but being a com I could add or reduce the throttle to move or stop. Next was a Ford Jubilee. I was in kindergarten when I was pulling a hay wagon so mom and my little brother would pick up the corn missed by the corn picker at corners and such. Mom sold that corn for spending money. I was so small I could stand on the clutch and it wouldnt go down, I had to pull on the steering wheel to help. Lol. Then as I got stronger and bigger it was the 870, dc, and later 730 and 970.

John Deere 50 with 2-row bedders for the garden, a Farmhand 5 round bale mover for hay.
John Deere 60 for drag mower since it had live PTO while the 50 didn't.
John Deere 4020 by the time I was in high school for pulling tandem disc harrow or field cultivator with fiber shank, seed drill, fertilizer spreader, other.
John Deere 730, the same one I have now, for 4-row cultivators and other random tasks.

I didn't grow up on a farm. I only recall sitting on some machines at construction sites. My summer job in 1968 with the metro park system, they let me run a JD 300 with a loader a little and drive the dumps. Got married that fall and the wife's dad was farming. COOP E3s and JD A.

Tony in SD asked what tractor did you drive as a Kid?
I drove a 1932 Ford truck that had been stripped down to the bare necessities. Rear springs, cab, fenders and wind shield were all gone. 9:20 rear tires were added. the gas tank was the seat. There was not a hint of brakes. That was about 1942. I had to drive it to my Uncles place for haying, about 25 miles away. Yes I tried to take the back roads. That was our only tractor until about 1945 when we got a Mpls Moline Don't tell me about the good ole days.

Oliver 1650 gas we still have. Was maybe 5 or 6. Just disking around in circles till dad finished talking to the neighbor. Also plowed snow with an International I-6 with a front blade. Maybe 10 or 12 ? Still have that one also.
