"Would you try to make an inquiry from a member of this forum @tomstractorsandtoys, but I haven't seen him online on here in a while. He has a few for sale; the last time I spoke to him, you should try giving him a shout-out via his email: [email protected] I hope he responds back to you."

Tomstractorsandtoys hasn't been on for over a year. Since he likely won't respond they provide "his" email. Always a new user.

The member NK contacted you through the forum by a Direct Message?

No, he PMed me in the forum. It was a response to a WTB post I made.
Use the Contact Us button, fill the form out with all this info and turn it over to Norman and the other administrators. They can research and get to the bottom of it as to whether it is a scam or a hack of a member's ID.

Direct Message is the name of the PM (private message) system here

“Direct” Message is what a Private Message is called by this forum’s software. If you use the “Mail” or envelope icon at the top they are called “Conversations” both are that same thing. something changed about the naming in that Sept. ‘25 software update. Doesn’t matter, the point is that if the contact wasn’t through him getting your email somehow as Jim.ME is saying it should being reported to moderators as he instructed. It could mean he is a “rogue” member or his profile was hacked.

Something is fishy here for certain, Neokeith7 posted this yesterday in the Crawlers…backhoes forum.
Post by Neokeith7 on 5/4/26
It is exactly what was posted in that forum by subs1000w on 9/27/11. Thread by subs1000w on 9/27/11 subs1000w had the ability to provide follow-up replies, Neokeith7 has not so far.
Edit to add: Searching more it looks like everyone of his posts is a copy of an earlier thread.

11 of 2025. He states he knows someone that has a couple. Hasn't seen him on the forum in a while then refers me to a email. He sent me almost the same text on this forum just a month or two ago.
Thank you

Hi, I had a alert symbol by my name and the envelope on the bell, don't see anything new? Did you have any luck with the scammer?
Thank you

THAT'S THE EXACT POST I GOT THAT CHICO 1 IS TALKING ABOUT. THAT REFERRED ME TO AN EMAIL, SO I'M OFF THE FORUM. JUST LIP SERVICE, GOT SCAMMED. LOW LIFE'S TO LAZY TO WORK.

The email is [email protected]. We exchanged over 50 emails about trust and what not. He sent me fake tracking #'S. I fell for it and sent him a $500 check.

Norman said he has banned the original user that gave chico 1 that reply. If the scammer signed up for his profile under a different email then the [email protected] there is nothing Norman/moderators can do about it. They can only ban a member that is using a username associated with that email. If the scammer contacts you through a reply to a classified add suggesting a member such as tomstoysandtractors is a friend of theirs or some such thing but directs you to an email such as above the moderators can’t do a thing about it, except mark that email as unacceptable for future use as an email to setup a username under. In the latter case if the “scammer” is not a member simply requesting them to contact you through a PM which they could not because they are not a legitimate member then that clues you in that they are a scammer.
If you leave all the “alert” settings in your profile as default which is basically “all checked” the alert bell will show a number change anytime there is activity in a thread you created or replied to meaning someone else replies, or there is a reply or query to an active classified add you have. Hope that is helpful to you.
In my opinion leaving the forum, if that is what you are suggesting, is giving the scammer another win, by you giving up something of interest or useful to you for really no reason. You trusted someone on a Tractor forum that you felt you had a connection to due to having a supposed similar interest, it happens. One can only imagine the info that is being shared in “scammer circles” such as try to go after this group of people such as “tractor people” they are gullible as heck! Such are the times we live in.

Trying to be sure I understand here. It reads like you are leaving the forum because you only got lip service from Norman. I don't see that Norman or anyone else at YT can recover your money, if that is what you are looking for. The money exchange was between you and the person you were dealing with, YT had nothing to do with that. The best they can do is to ban a bad actor, like this. There is no stopping someone who was banned from joining again from a different IP address and using a different handle.
