JD 410c rpm surging and dying

There WILL be coffee ground like bits inside IF the return check ball is in place, there won't be many, IF ANY left if that pump has been run long with that ball knocked out. Most pumps like this I can repair and calibrate in the 450/500 range IF the head and cam are good. Seize the head, break the shaft and the parts alone can be 1500 bucks or more.

I drained the tank, blew out the lines and there was. Nothing in the return system or tank. Not a spec stuck in the check valve spring, under the inspection cover, or anywhere else. The only issue i found was a restricted flow through the feed line and the surging rpm would happen when the machine started bouncing around. Ill put the check valve in and keep an eye on it to see if anything does collect.

I opened the top of the pump and the only spec of anything inside was a small chunk of grease that fell off the linkage arm. I also checked the little paddle inside as was recommended by a diesel pump rebuilder and that was tight as well. The new check valve is in and I'll continue to monitor it.
