John Deere 2630 Battery “Box”

This 1975 beauty was treated roughly in one of her likely multiple families. While she’s been down for hydraulic repairs over the last year, I’ve taken the time to do a few smaller projects.

One I’m considering is reconstructing the battery box. Has anyone done this before?

Likely going to cut the back after taking measurements and welding the good to new. As for the bottom,…well, looking for thoughts on remaking it.

Primary interested in keeping grounding inside the box rather than taking it to the frame, and, of course, keeping the batteries and instruments better protected.

Ground cable from batterie's neg direct to a starter mounting bolt. Anything else is a waste of time and effort .
