HG42 -- Dies under load

I'm really stumped on this.

Here's what's happening:
It will start, warm up (holds at 185F), and idle just fine. I can leave it running at idle pretty much indefinitely. I can drive it for about 5-10 minutes before it will abruptly die. It will start right back up, but then die again a minute later. After that, I need to let it sit for a while before it will start again.

Oil pressure seems really low, only a few PSI at the gauge. I have the oil pump pressure turned up all the way. The spark plugs are wet and oily and foul out frequently. the oil filter has to be cranked down HARD so it won't leak. It's smoke is blackish and heavy. Just typing this out makes me wonder if the pressure isn't even across the system?

What I've tried:
1. Rebuilt carburetor.
2. New fuel filter.
3. New fuel line.
4. New spark plugs.
5. New spark plugs again, but this time using 14mm adapters to act as anti-foulers. (This was just this morning, seems to have helped keep the spark plugs dry?)
6. Spark is good and bright every time I've checked it.
7. Pulled head, new head gasket, cleaned everything good.
8. Engine Restore (I've only run it about an hour since doing this.)
9. New oil pressure gauge.
10. New wires

I thought the root cause was the plugs fouling out, but the plugs are now dry and it's still happening.

Thanks in advanced for any advice.

Clip on one of those cheap inline spark testers. That way you can view the spark while it is running. Harbor Freight sells them, amount others.
If there is no ignition problems, that black smokes says it’s running way too rich.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's glowing red in the tester. I did notice that the flash rate seemed to start to go down after it started to die. I'll try a new condenser tomorrow.

I figured the black smoke was from the oil burning off? I guess I should describe it as black/blue.

Black is too much fuel or lack of air.turn main adjustment on carb 1/4 turn in and see if black smoke is less. Go in slowly to eliminate black smoke

I just took it for about about a 20 minute drive with a new condenser; it seems better?

Thanks for all the tips; I'm going to start a new thread re: Oil pressure weirdness and smoking.

Thanks guys!
