“G” fan shroud?

Do I have this right?
Fan shroud has these extra holes. Don’t know if they do anything, but just want the fan shroud positioned right in case they do something. Do they go to the top or bottom?

I can't say what they are used for. The parts book picture shows and older version of the shroud with no holes for the G. However, the 70 parts book which uses the same fan shroud part shows the holes at the top.
