Just called up my Tractor guy in Bakersfield to order up some parts for my Super 55. One of my items was a set of Autolite spark plugs and he'd asked me if I was aware of Autolite filing Chapyer 11 and I told him no.He said this took place last fall.

Autolite is part of First Brands group ,due to financial difficulties First brands is winding down some divisions. I would expect higher prices for some aftermarket parts. . Fram is part of First Brands . I don't know what's going on there. I did notice the other day name brand oil filters at Walmart that not long ago were 4-5 $ are now over $10.

Yeah where you been? It’s not they went bankrupt. It’s the two brothers who owned several companies that are in a world of crap, criminal charges, etc

Look up First Brands, that is who owns them. They bought up a bunch of other manufacturers like Trico, Raybestos and Fram. They owe out a bunch of money and filed chapter 11.

Interesting reading, wonder how long they thought they could get away with all that before the walls came tumbling down.

Autolite has been at the bottom of he barrel for 15 to 20 years this did not surprise me at all. They are another American icon that sold their sole to China.

Mark, from Korves Oliver swears by the Autolite components, says he's not sure what way he is going to go?

Fram was a premium filter many years ago but just a name now. Using the name to sell economy grade filters to people thinking they're getting a premium product. I tried Autolite plugs once. Once. Never again. NGK and Denso are light years ahead of Autolite.

Just read that Denso is selling its spark plug division to the parent company of NGK.

I have a friend who swears by Napa parts, because it's still 50 years ago to him. When I take whatever parts out of the Napa box and show him the Dorman/Raybestos/AC Delco (or whatever) product number on the part it crushes his soul. Yet he keeps going back and paying 2-3x for the Napa branded items.

AND….NAPA filters used to be rebranded Wix. Not any more.
