Hello,
I have a 68 Allis-Chalmers 180. It's been running well for a year since I bought it for the 9 acres of farmland my wife and I inherited. One of the batteries developed a bad cell. I replaced both. I also replaced the starter thinking it might be going bad and drawing too much amperage. The new batteries started the tractor once. I ran it for about 4 hours. The batteries seemed dead after that. I noticed the ground wire was lose from the battery case to the tractor and replaced the wire. I placed the batteries on a repair charger and they seem ok now.
I just noticed that the voltage regulator has only 3 wires on it. The alternator is a delco-remy 10dn. Here is a pic:
Here is the voltage regulator:
Should there be 4 wires on this? If so where should the missing wire come from?
I appreciate any help you can give.
thanks,
dan
