Cork crankshaft seals

I'm rebuilding a Wisconsin AGND (big single cylinder). The front and rear main seals are cork. Should I do anything with them other than maybe slather with some assembly lube before installing?

Thanks
David

I rebuilt a Wisconsin 12 hp a few years ago. I soaked the cork seals in engine oil for a few hours before installing them. Still using engine-no leaks.

My experience with cork is that it looses its ability to seal over time. Have no experience with oil soaking when removed but it that makes the cork puff back up then go for it. Also they are easily damaged....crack.
