Looking for a Low to Medium Speed Angle Grinder

I had a Rigid/Home Depot angle grinder that I used for wire brushing. It was not as fast as my Metabo cut off grinder so it was perfect for wire wheeling. I have been looking around for a replacement and all I seem to see is high speed grinders. It seems there has been a "speed war" going on that I missed. I really don't want a high speed grinder for wire wheeling. Those little wires when they break off embed themselves deep enough with out any extra help. Any suggestions.

I just did a web search and there are some variable speed grinders available. Some corded and some battery. One was a Dewalt battery. There are several off brand available from Amazon or Ebay. I have a 7 inch Dewalt corded variable speed but that is a heavy beast.

If you're looking for a 7" or so, not a little 4/4.5, take a look at buffers. They are much slower and most are adjustable now.

When you're looking at grinders, what size(s) are you looking at? If your old one was larger (like a 7") any you're looking at new 4"-5" ones, that might explain it: Larger grinders generally run at slower rpm in order to achieve the same surface speed at the wheel rim. How slow are you looking for?

What you likely had was a disk sander or a buffer/polisher, not an angle grinder. Dad's "angle grinder" was a Black and Decker disk sander which he used and abused for many many years. When he got the Dewalt 7" angle grinder it was like night and day.

In fact, this is the exact model he had. 4500RPM vs 8500RPM of a 7" angle grinder:

There is no such thing as a "low speed angle grinder" and there has been no "speed war." You simply had a different tool.

I have a 3 speed 4 1/2" cordless angle grinder that I bought about a year ago on Amazon. It looks a lot like a Dewalt product and accepts Dewalt batteries, but is not a Dewalt product.

Thanks everyone. I should have been more specific. I am looking for a 4.5 to 5" grinder. I have a couple of 7" grinders and they are beasts. I was hoping to find a single speed that was a little slower than the race grinders. Add to that, I'm cheap and don't really want to spend a ton of money on something I only use once in a while. Looking for a unicorn I guess.
